Savoury Seed Sprinkle
Inspired by the original flavours of five spice. Nutty, toasty, a little bit spicy, it's also an excellent source of fibre and vegan protein. Use it like a Chinese dukkah, to add a little zhuzh to your avocados, salads or stir fries.
Ingredients: Sesame seeds, fennel seeds, chopped nuts (peanuts, cashews, almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts, hazelnuts), chilli flakes, Sichuan peppercorns, salt.
One pinch delivers funky flavour in a tiny punch. The secret is in a custom blend of fermented black beans and miso, which add complex depth and plenty of umami. Use instead of salt in your stir fries, as a dry rub, or on your chips.
Ingredients: pink Himalayan salt, miso paste (soybeans, rice, salt), fermented black beans (black soybeans, salt).
Spicy Shroom Sambal
You won't get enough of this homage to my aunty's famous Malaysian sambal. A dry spicy relish with a vegan twist, replacing traditional shrimp with shiitake mushrooms. Crunchy and fiery, a little goes a long way.
Ingredients: shiitake mushroom, onions, vegetable oil, wheat flour, garlic powder, chilli flakes, salt, sugar.
